The Katherine Gorge section of the park is particularly popular as you can hire a canoe and paddle into the gorges with their steep rock cliffs. When we arrive, we are told that pre-booking is a must and no boat would be available for the next few days. Though it is hard to believe that you have to ring up a canoe rental way in advance, we have to accept this fact. After a night on a nice campground we head further north towards Kakadu National Park, the top attraction of the Northern Territory. However, our first stop is only 50 km down the road, again in Nitmiluk National Park, but this time the Edith Falls (Leliyn) section. Just for a lunch break. At least that’s the plan …
